This is one is for my Mum, each time I spend explaining to her what I do, she still doesn’t get it ❤️. Those of us in Professional services may find blurry lines in explaining what we do. I hope this brings more clarity.
Nigerian Parents take pride in talking about their successful kids. Life is so much easier when their kids fit into the classical titles such as Medical Doctor, Engineer or Pharmacist. For my mum, this ticks the box for most of her children and she finds it easy to explain, but when it comes to Chioma, words gets stuck as it is not easily definable exactly what she does…
So here it is, What do I do?
The first time I told Mother that I am a Consultant, she immediately compared this to the Medical Consultants found in the Teaching hospitals. Well that would work but let me shed more light..
After my MBA, I became an IT Project Manager, 5 years later I went into Technology Consulting and this is where it becomes a thin line for many Lay people.
